Master Thangka Painter R.D. Salga at NalandaWest

On Friday November 7, 2014 one of the few remaining masters of the Karma Gardri school of Tibetan Buddhist thangka painting, R.D. Salga, will speak in Seattle, Washington at NalandaWest on the history, style, and symbolism of thangkas. On Saturday, November 8, Salga will demonstrate each step that goes into creating a thangka painting, followed by a panel discussion in the afternoon, with a reception for the artist and exhibition of the artist’s works in the evening.

Nalandabodhi celebrates Shakyamuni Festival today!


With the support and blessings of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, today our Western dharma teachers, the Mitras of Nalandabodhi, announced a new name for our annual holiday of celebrating the life and enlightenment of the Buddha, which we previously called “Saka Dawa Düchen.”

This week Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche unveiled a lively, updated new personal website. The site consists of a interactive grid of moving parts that invite exploration. By clicking on large photo buttons, visitors will find much to discover: YouTube videos, art and humor pieces by Rinpoche, and of course, a current schedule of teachings . . . .

Always Looking for Freedom!

In Mexico City this March, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche made the audience laugh in personal recognition, as he painted various pictures of our constant quest for whatever we think will bring us “freedom.” In this video clip, Rinpoche humorously points out how our concept of freedom changes from year to year, at each stage of life.

Viva El Buda Rebelde! Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche in Mexico City

This weekend March 28-30 Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche will be teaching in Mexico City, hosted by the Nalandabodhi Mexico City sangha. At the opening talk Friday night Rinpoche spoke on his book Rebel Buddha: A Guide to a Revolution of Mind, which was just released in Spanish as El Buda Rebelde.
