Brian is an upstate New Yorker who grew up shoveling snow and eating pasta with his large Italian family. A leader and coach, he champions an “everyone” culture in government — a culture that builds innovation, collaboration, and trust. In his free time Brian practices and teaches Miksang photography. For him, Miksang is an invitation to people to see the brilliance of the world without labels and concepts.
A dharma student since 2006, Brian took refuge with Pema Chödron in 2007. He met Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche in 2010 and became his student and a member of Nalandabodhi at that time. In 2015, Brian helped establish a Nalandabodhi study group in Washington, DC, where he serves as co-director.
Whether it is spontaneous karaoke, coaching, playing squash, or studying leadership, Brian approaches his adventures with heart and commitment. Still, he believes it’s crucial to be silly and not to take himself too seriously. As one of his heroes, Winnie the Pooh, says, “Life is a journey to be experienced, not a problem to be solved.”
As Director of Organizational Health, Brian looks forward to ensuring that our core values, introduced by Rinpoche as Be Wise, Go Kind, and Live Fully, are genuine experiences for our members and volunteers rather than aspirations.
