increased in value (and that have been held for more than one year) offer you the chance to support Nalandabodhi while realizing benefits for yourself.<\/p><p>When you donate stock or other securities, you can reduce or even eliminate U.S. capital gains taxes on the transfer. You may also be entitled to a federal income tax charitable deduction based on the fair market value of the securities at the time of the transfer. At the same time, your generosity supports Nalandabodhi\u2019s teachers, our dharma programs, and the operation of Nalanda West, our international sangha home.<\/p><p>There are two basic options for gifting securities. You can <strong>make an outright gift <\/strong>by identifying the securities to be transferred and asking your broker to make the transfer to Nalandabodhi\u2019s brokerage account. You can also place a <strong>transfer on death (TOD) designation<\/strong> on your brokerage or investment account, to ensure that the proceeds from your account will be paid to one or more persons or charities after your lifetime.
