Hoe kunnen we nemen wat we leren door de leringen van de Boeddha te bestuderen en wat we ervaren in onze meditatiepraktijk - en het van moment tot moment aan het werk te zetten in ons leven. Wanneer we denken een &quot;boeddhist&quot; te zijn en de leer van de Boeddha te volgen, wat denken we dat dat betekent? Het is waarschijnlijk gebruikelijk om eerst te denken: &quot;Wel, ik zit op een kussen en mediteer.&quot; Ten tweede zouden we kunnen denken: &quot;Ik ga naar boeddhistische leraren luisteren, ik lees boeken en ik ga naar een aantal lessen.&quot; Terwijl meditatie beoefening en studie zijn belangrijk, hoe zit het met de rest van het leven? We kunnen dat behandelen door te zeggen: &quot;Ik probeer vriendelijker te zijn en aandacht te schenken aan wat ik doe.&quot; We zouden kunnen denken dat onze meditatie en studie voor het leven zal zorgen, dat deze eervolle inspanningen alleen al zullen leiden tot een transformatie van ons lijden in geluk en onze mentale verwarring in Boeddha-achtige waakzaamheid. Maar is dat hoe het echt werkt?
