Based on the curriculum developed by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Nalandabodhi’s global sanghas offer Path of Study Courses which cover the philosophical, meditative, and practical teachings of the Buddhist tradition, in particular the Kagyü and Nyingma schools of Tibetan Buddhism

Until now, the study materials for the Introduction to Buddhism series of courses were only available as printed texts through the Nalanda Store. We’re pleased to announce that a new format is now available to students taking these introductory courses online from Nalanda Digital Dharma, as well as courses offered by local Nalandabodhi sanghas.

How to purchase the Introduction to Buddhism e-books

These new digital Introduction to Buddhism course materials are available for purchase as e-books through Apple Books and the Google Play Store. You can also get printed texts through the Nalanda Store

These introductory series of classes explore the basic principles of the Buddha’s teachings. They provide practical advice for applying these teachings in our lives and broadening our understanding of the world around us, all the while laying the groundwork for later courses.

We plan to release e-books for the Hinayana and Mahayana Path of Study series in the near future.

Availability

These texts are available to students taking the online course at Nalanda Digital Dharma, as well as courses offered by local Nalandabodhi sanghas.

Clarity about our journey: Finding happiness and freedom

Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, reflecting on the wisdom contained in the attitude of not knowing as embodied by Prince Siddhartha, points out in the Introduction to Buddhism series, that “the reason why we cannot find clarity about our journey, the reason why we sometimes do not experience any fruition, is because we are not really asking the questions clearly.”

May this series of texts, now offered as e-books, contribute to us asking the right questions and obtaining clarity about our journey, finding the happiness and freedom that is already within ourselves.

Connecting the Disconnected: The Four Immeasurables

Mitra Lee writes, “Usually we focus on ourselves, on our own well-being, our goodness or badness, and our perceptions of pleasure and pain, right and wrong, like or dislike. In the practice of the four immeasurables, we train to extend our attention beyond ourselves and our habitual, conditioned thoughts. They help us to open a place for others in our mind and, beyond this, to see others as the same as ourselves.”
