Our lives are a tangle of challenges – family, work, and trying to hold onto inspiration. And, there’s no simple recipe for success, however, there are creative responses. How do we summon that creativity when “life” happens? One way, tested over the centuries by curious contemplatives, is by being still–not for hours or days, but for moments and minutes, and turning our attention to our senses. When we’re still, we can see, hear, taste, and feel with greater clarity, and while that may not always be completely pleasant, it is completely present; it is “now” where we can create the shape of our response in keeping with deeper inspiration.
This is how we sustain the kind and wise intention of “Dharma” in our lives by returning attention to the present moment and choosing our words and actions to raise a smile and ease a painful heart.
Dharma Night with Mitra Mark Power
Nalandabodhi Philadelphia is inviting you to join them for a Dharma Night with Mitra Mark Power on how to stay creative when “life” happens. Dharma Night is an informal gathering where we talk about dharma and life, learning from each other about our challenges and our unique expressions of creativity. We’ll meditate a little, offer a topic, and talk together. It’s a way of connecting with community with a small investment of time and curiosity. It’s also a way we add our offering of kindness to the suffering in the world.
If you’re interested in joining Mitra Mark Power for this Dharma Night, please email philadelphia@nalandabodhi.org and they will send you the link.
