On the auspicious occasion of Lhabab Düchen, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche officially opened the doors of Nalandabodhi Taichung’s new temple, Namkha Ösal. In his talk to all those present onsite and online, Rinpoche spoke about the meaning of the name, following Acharya Jampa’s story about the background behind establishing this dharma center and architect Naiwen Cheng sharing about the significance of the construction and style of the building.
A short history
After expressing his appreciation to Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Dilyak Drupon Rinpoche, Drupon Dechen Rinpoche, all lamas, acharyas, monastic sangha and dharma friends, Acharya Jampa briefly shared about the history behind establishing Namkha Ösal.
Acharya shared that he never thought about doing something like this ten years ago. Yet, with the aspiration to offer a firmly established dharma center in Taichung under the guidance of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, a plot of land was bought almost five years ago. With a pure intention, many people have been working hard to make this new building a reality. While the building may be small, it is easily accessible and constructed with compassion so everyone can feel welcome to practice the dharma together.
